Never in a Million Years

did I think once the girls came home I would just completely throw my blog to the side. Many of you are pregnant, have moved on to adoption or are even contemplating going through fertility treatments again and I haven't been there for you like you were for me. All of you have been so supportive and kind through my process and I feel guilty for not staying up to date with everyone and letting you all know how the girls are, especially since many of you were there during the most difficult time in my life (hospital stay). The girls are doing great. We have had our ups and downs but nothing I'm going to complain about....I have 2 beautiful healthy baby girls!!!

We have been venturing out of the house more and more and it's crazy how twins draw so much attention. We are celebrities. Even every Sunday at church it takes us 10-15 minutes to get to our seats and we only have maybe 75 people in our church. The fun part is seeing peoples face when we tell them they are 7 months old. They are just now in 3 months clothes.

Long awaited pictures

The girls came home on the same day and it has been 3 weeks now. Everything has been crazy to say the least. I think we might be settling into a routine so hopefully things will get easier. The girls weigh a little over 7 lbs now and are doing great. Here are some long awaited photos!!!

One down one to go

Paisley gets to come home Monday. We are so excited we can't contain ourselves. Hopefully Harper isn't far behind her. The next week will be very busy. Taking care of one newborn while another is 70 miles away in the hospital. Thank goodness DH is taking off work next week. So we will alternate who is with Paisley and who is with Harper.
We have been staying downtown this entire time (yes over three months) so not only will it be great to have her home but we will be HOME. "sleeping" in my own bed.

Let motherhood begin......

Sorry it's been so long...

The girls are doing fabulous. All of the doctors and nurses have said what miracle babies we have. Harper is 4 lbs 14 oz and Paisley is 4 lbs 5 oz. One of the last major milestones left is getting them to drink from a bottle and we are working on that. I can't wait to show you guys pictures, like any proud mama I think they are beautiful and wanna show them off.

I hope that the girls are able to come home in the next few weeks (3-4). That might sound like forever to you but it seems like it's right around the corner for me, considering we have been here 11 weeks now.

I have been trying to read all my blogs and for the ones who have had babies and gotten pregnant since I have been MIA, congrats and what a blessing. Oh and hello to all my new followers.

1 Month 4/8/11

So many things to update you on. First off this entire journey is a roller coaster. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.

The girls have been doing really good for a little over a week! Praise GOD! Harper got really sick two weeks ago. When these little ones get sick they ride a fine line. It was a stressful week to say the least. She had an infection, her kidneys stopped working, she had major damage done to her nose from the CPAP (little mask that gives her oxygen), she also had a ART line which is like an IV that goes straight into the artery. Once they took the ART line out blood flow stopped to her left foot. It has gotten so much better. In the beginning they thought she might lose her left foot! With lots of answered prayers her foot will be fine and her nose is healing. They did call in a plastic surgeon to monitor the progress in case she needs some sort of surgery in the future (yes it was that bad).

In my last post I told you how our precious Paisley had a grade 2 brain bleed?! Well Our GOD is awesome and when they did the repeat scan to check the progress they can't see where she even had one!!!!!!! NO BLEED AT ALL!!!

I know I haven't been posting but know that I still think of all of you often and wish my computer wasn't junk and I could get on the Internet more. Today I'm using the hospital computer :).

I have been wanting to post pictures of the girls because they are absolutley beautiful (I'm so a MOM)! but i'm a little nervous about posting pictures of them with all there little tubes and IV's. I wont even let my family take pictures of them. I'm a little protective of them right now. I promise I will post a picture soon....my soon might be in a month or two once most of the tubes are gone. My due date was June 23 so thats about how long the girls will be in the hospital.

2 Weeks Old

I don't think that you can mentally be prepared for a journey like this one. The girls are 2 weeks old today and are doing well. There have been more good days than bad (which we are truly blessed by) but somehow the devil can take one bad day and turn all the good ones into a faint memory.

We found out today that our precious Paisley has a grade 2 brain bleed. The doctors are optimistic about the outcome and if Mark and I aren't there will be know way to make it through the next few months. The Lord has pulled her through so many obstacles so far why not this one. Mark and I have leaned so far on GOD this whole time and he has come through each and every prayer, how could we not? Harper has done exceptionally well and we have had only minor set backs with her.

There are so many things I have on my mind and things I wanna say and get off my chest but I can't find the time to get it all out. I will hopefully be able to tell you all about the hospital stay and delivery part very soon. Between pumping and being at the hospital i have NO time for anything.

Speaking of pumping....obviously I wont be able to breastfeed for a long time. Any suggestions. I spoke with a lactation consultant and she said that I'm not producing enough. At first I started out pumping every hour to make my body produce. Then I went to every 3 hours...around the clock. When I spoke with that lady she put me on another schedule. 12midnight 5am, 8am, 10am, 12pm, 3pm, 6pm and 9pm. This was just 2 days ago I started the new schedule. I also started taking fenugreek to help with my supply. I'm taking 3 3x a day. I haven't really noticed a difference. I'm getting almost 2 1/2 oz in the 5 hr time span from midnight to 5. In the 3 hour time span I can get anywhere from 1-1 1/2 oz. Then the 2 hr time span I'm barely getting 1 oz most of the time its less than that. I hope yall (Lauren) have some really good advice. Pumping should be the last thing I have to worry about. WHY CANT MY BODY WORK!!!!

Please forgive me for not reading your blogs. If there is anything I missed please update me.

The Girls Are Here

Just wanted to update everyone really quick. Paisley Grace was born at 6:29am 3/8/2011 weighing a whopping 1 lb 6oz and 11 inches. Harper Rose was also born at 6:29 am weighing 1 lb 7 oz and 11 1/2 inches.

The Lord allowed me to hold them in for 13 days being in the hospital. I also made it 72 hrs after the steroid shots for there lungs. I was 24 weeks 5 days and for that gestation the girls are doing really well. We still covet all prayers during this time.

I have been running a fever so I still haven't seen the girls, only pictures from my DH's phone. As soon as I see them I will try and post pictures.

Quick update

I'm still in the hospital and will be until the girls come. I'm in the bed head down and feet up to keep pressure off my cervix. I'm not allowed out of bed for any reason. Which is really hard. Still no labor so we are very grateful for that. When I'm 24 weeks on Thursday they will transport me to downtown Houston. The hospital there is better equipped to handle preemies. We are praying they don't come that early.

I haven't been able to keep anything down since Wednesday evening when I got here. I've been vomiting everything I eat or drink so bad that I have broken the blood vessels in my eye. I have started sipping Ensure every 2 hrs. So far so good.

Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers!!!! I will try to you updated.

In the hospital

I went for a regular check up with my high risk doctor. The girls look great but my body is failing me. I'm 3 cm dilated. The girls could come at any time. I'm just now 23 weeks today. Please pray!!! They said I won't leave the hospital until they come. Whenever that is, today or two months from now. They have me in bed with my feet up and head down to keep pressure off my cervix. Just to be clear I'm not in labor just dilated. The only bad thing they can stop labor but not you cervix from dilating.

My little June Bugs @ 22 weeks

How far along? 22 Weeks!

The nursery

The pillow in the crib was made by my wonderful sister Candy!! Since we had to buy two bedding sets we got and extra valance. We cut it up made two pillows and the wall art in the next picture.

I took the fabric put a little stuffing behind it and framed it without the glass.

We ordered this tree from Esty. DH had a hard time putting it up but I love the out come.

Ignore the blue tape. We were laying out where we are gonna put their names. It will be in the same pink as the birds.

As soon as we get our chair in and the names above the beds I will post more pictures of the nursery.

My little June Bugs @ 21 weeks

Picture was taken at work. Nice boring white walls ;)

How far along? 21 Weeks!

Baby's Size? The girls are now the size of a banana!
Baby's digestive system is busy creating meconium (a tarry black substance made of swallowed amniotic fluid, digestive secretion, and dead cells), which will fill the first diaper after birth. And, if baby is a girl, her womb is now stocked up with her lifetime supply of six million eggs (the number will drop to around one million by birth).

Weight Gain? 13 lbs

Maternity Clothes? All maternity pants. I desperately need some shirts but I hate shopping so I keep putting it off.

Stretch marks? Not yet.

Belly button in or out? The top part is starting to poke out. Especially if I'm really full.

My little June Bugs @ 20 weeks

I finally got up the courage for a bare belly shot. EEE might be my last(I need a tan):).

How far along? 20 Weeks!

Baby's Size? The girls are now the size of a cantaloupe!
They gulp down several ounces of amniotic fluid every day, both for nutrition and to practice swallowing and digesting. And, these days, those taste buds actually work! Studies show that after birth, babies respond best to tastes they've already had via amniotic fluid. Meaning, think about what you'd like your future child to eat as you prepare your own lunch.

Weight Gain? 10-12 lbs

Maternity Clothes? All maternity pants. I need some shirts but I hate shopping so I keep putting it off.

Stretch marks? None!! I wonder if I will get them, when will they come?

Belly button in or out? Flat, not sure if it will poke out or just stay smooth?

Sleep? EEEHHH.....some nights are better than others. Mainly my hips and shoulders hurt when I sleep on them.

Foods I am loving? A little of everything. Still tomatoes with salt and Ice water, lots and lots of ice.

Foods I am hating? Nothing new

Best moment this week? Getting the cribs set up with the bedding in!

Movement? Yes but barely. Just in the past day or two I started noticing little flutters.

Symptoms? stuffy nose that has become bloody (YUCK) backaches, hips and shoulder aches while sleeping, leg cramps and sciatic nerve pain.

Genders? Two girls

What I miss? Not having to use the bathroom in the middle of the night.

What I'm looking forward to? My showers! Even though they are still almost two months away.

Weekly Wisdom: Move slowly

Milestone: Getting the nursery ready.

Emotions: Excited.

We have decided on names. Give me a week or two just to make sure DH doesn't change his mind before I spill the beans. So excited.

The name game....

So a few post back I told you how our favorite girl name was STOLEN (yes that's how I feel about it) by a couple at church. We stopped going to that church a few months back (has nothing to do with the name stealing) and have recently found a new church. DH and I skipped around for a few months before we finally settled on this one. So to say we "know" people is an under statement. Last night at Bible study we got to talking with the worship leader. His wife is currently pregnant with their second little girl. He was telling us his wife's name and their 1 1/2 yrs olds name....guess what it is. Yep the name we love. Luckily DH piped right in and said oh really that's the name we like and are considering using.

After church DH asked me "now what" I said "we need another church". I was just joking, we aren't really gonna look for a new church. What in the world do we do? Give up on that name? Talk to the couple about it (DH suggestion) or have two of the same in one very small church? My dad said who cares use it, y'all love so it shouldn't matter. I feel the same way. DH said we need to make sure that they don't get upset with us for using it, kinda like we did with the other couple at our last church. Even though that was a completely different situation!

Thoughts?

On a brighter note, the preachers wife came up to me last night and said she wants to throw me a shower with all the ladies at church!!! We have only been going for maybe a month and a half solid. I feel completely blessed to have them take us in and wanna do this for us.

19 weeks and Gender Reveal

2 GIRLS!!!!!!!!!

Baby A is folded in half. Her little leg looks like a frog leg! So cute. Gymnastics????

Baby B the active one so precious all snuggled up!

How far along? 19 Weeks!!

Baby's Size? The Girls are now the size of a mango!
Vernix caseosa, a greasy white substance made of lanugo, oil, and dead skin cells (yum) now coats baby's skin, shielding it from the amniotic fluid. (Picture yourself after a nine-month bath, and the need for protection makes sense.) You might get to see the vernix at birth, especially if baby is premature.

Weight Gain? 8lbs

Maternity Clothes? All maternity pants. Might need to start looking at tops. Mine still fit they are just getting short.

Stretch marks? None!! I just hope it stays this way.

Belly button in or out? It's pretty much even with the rest of the belly.

Sleep? The same, I was told yesterday to STOP sleeping on my back. I don't do it on purpose I just wake up that way. I think its because my hips and shoulders need a break.

Foods I am loving? A little of everything. Still tomatoes with salt and Ice water, lots and lots of ice.

Foods I am hating? Nothing new

Best moment this week? Seeing the GIRLS!

Movement? Yes but not kicks and punches just tightening when they get close to the surface.

Symptoms? stuffy nose that has become bloody (YUCK) backaches, hips and shoulder aches while sleeping, leg cramps. Its been a lovely week :)

Genders? Two girls

What I miss? Not having to use the bathroom in the middle of the night.

What I'm looking forward to? Seeing their faces. Just not anytime soon.

Weekly Wisdom: Move slowly

Milestone:half way there!

Emotions: Excited, I can start shopping.....SCARY!!!

The nursery is painted

The hubs did such a good job.

We had the fan sucking the fumes out of the room. This helped a lot with the smell. We still have the door shut so it doesn't come in the rest of the house. If it still smells this weekend I will turn the fan back on.

As long as we are able to see the goods on Wednesday I would like to go shopping for cribs and bedding.

I told DH yesterday that he could name the boys and I would name the girls. He said we already have a boy name. But if we have two boys you can name the other. The two girls names I have picked I absolutely love, him, not so much. The first girl name we have we both loved but a couple from church took it. He can't get over it, so he doesn't really like it anymore. Did this happen to any of you?

My little June Bugs @ 18 weeks

(Being silly)

How far along? 18 Weeks!!

Baby's Size? Babies are now the size of a sweet potato!
Baby's become amazingly mobile (compared to you, at least), passing the hours yawning, hiccuping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking, and swallowing. And baby is finally big enough that you'll soon be able to feel her movements.

Weight Gain? 8lbs

Maternity Clothes? All maternity pants. Might need to start looking at tops. Mine still fit they are just getting short.

Stretch marks? None!! I just hope it stays this way.

Belly button in or out? It's pretty much even with the rest of the belly. This week maybe I will be brave and do a bare belly shot.

Sleep? Terrible, my hips, shoulders and back hurt. If I do get comfy I have to go to the bathroom.

Foods I am loving? Still tomatoes with salt and Ice water, lots and lots of ice. Last night with dinner I cut up zucchini, squash and red potatoes cooked them on the stove and they were delish. I might do this every night!! lol

Foods I am hating? Nothing new

Best moment this week? making an apt for the anatomy scan.

Movement? Just the one on the right.

Symptoms? stuffy nose that has become bloody (YUCK) back aches, hips and shoulder aches while sleeping, leg cramps. Its been a lovely week :)

Genders? No Clue but will find out WEDNESDAY!!! My apt got changed!!!!!

What I miss? Not having to use the bathroom in the middle of the night.

What I'm looking forward to? Finding out the sex

Weekly Wisdom: eat slowly.

Milestone:Being in the 2nd trimester!

Emotions: Excited. Can't wait to find out the sex and start feeling them.

Wednesday, January 19, 2011

Anatomy Scan

A date has finally been set for the anatomy scan. When I called to make the appt she said they do them at 20 wks.
Her: FEB 3rd I can get you in. Will that work for you?
Me: Well no but I guess I will take it. ( in a joking voice I wasn't rude at all)
I was just really disappointed I had to wait 2 more weeks. (I know poor pitiful me) I ended up calling back just a few minutes later to see if we could come to a compromise and do it next week at 19wks. She said that's fine as long as I understood that if they can't see anything I will just have to come back next week. Of course that's fine I could possibly see them two weeks in a row.

So January 27th at 2:15pm I will know what my little ones are. So excited.

Update on the Nursery

Everything has been taped up. All the outlet covers have been removed and we are ready for paint.

We went to Lo.wes and Ho.me De.pot for paint. The picture doesn't do any of the colors justice. HD is on the right and L is on the left. L is cafe ole and is the color we are going with (even though in the picture it looks green). The one from HD has to much red in the brown. It isn't as red as the picture makes it.

My lovely hubby primed the walls yesterday. This weekend we (DH) will go get the color we chose and paint the room. Hopefully we can order furniture soon. With woods floors and being completely empty it is so hollow in there.

I did see a room the other day that I fell in love with. They had a chair rail (thinks that's what its called) around the bottom 1/3 of the wall. The top half was tan and the bottom was dark blue. The trim (chair rail) was white. DH asked if I wanted him to do it and I'm so torn. FYI- This is not the room I loved but it gives you an idea of the rail in the middle and two different colors.

If we don't do the two tone. Which I need to make my mind up ASAP we will do all tan. Suggestions???

My little June Bugs @ 17 weeks

How far along? 17 Weeks!!

Baby's Size? Babies are now the size of an onion! They don't stink like one :)
Baby's skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. His umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes now feature one-of-a-kind prints.

Weight Gain? 7lbs

Maternity Clothes? All maternity pants.

Stretch marks? None!! i just hope it stays this way.

Belly button in or out? It's getting really close to the surface.

Sleep? Not terrible but not good.

Foods I am loving? tomatoes with salt YUMMMM and Ice water, lots and lots of ice.

Foods I am hating? This is going back to normal. I can eat the food I cook.

Best moment this week? Hearing the heartbeats...its been a while

Movement? Yes, I can feel the baby move to the surface and then actually feel the baby. The part of my belly will get really hard. DH even gets to feel it. It's only one of them. The other doesn't get close enough to the surface. My OB verified it is the baby I feel!!! I can't feel it move back in though. My belly will just be normal in that spot. I can't wait for actual movement!

Symptoms? stuffy nose (so annoying) It's like being sick with out being sick. If that makes sense? and minor headaches.

Genders? No clue but the office will be calling me today or tomorrow to set up the scan!!! So excited!

What I miss? Not having to use the bathroom in the middle of the night.

What I'm looking forward to? Finding out the sex

Weekly Wisdom: A Prenatal massage will help sciatic nerve problems.

Milestone:Being in the 2nd trimester!

Emotions: Excited. Can't wait to find out the sex and start feeling them.

I have been getting all these red bumps/ pimples (you can't pop) all over my chest, belly, legs and arms. I showed them to my OB Friday. She said that with all those she bets there is at least one girl in there. She said they are hormonal and they come from to much estrogen. So between me and possibly one or more girls is why they are all over me. Time will tell.

Any guesses on what we are having?

Tuesday, January 11, 2011

My little June Bugs @ 16 weeks

How far along? 16 Weeks!!

Baby's size? The Babies are now the size of an avocado!
Watch what you say...tiny bones forming in baby's ears mean she can now pick up your voice. A few more minuscule changes: Eyebrows, lashes, and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming.

Weight Gain? Not sure. I go the the OB Friday. I'm thinking around 5 lbs

Maternity Clothes? All maternity pants.

Stretch marks? none, I have been using baby oil gel which keeps my belly moist/tacky all day. I'm hoping this will help the stretch marks. It has helped with the itching.

Belly button in or out? In but getting shallow already.

Sleep? It's been better.

Foods I am loving? tomatoes with salt YUMMMM and Ice water, lots and lots of ice.

Foods I am hating? This is going back to normal. I can eat the food I cook.

Best moment this week? Going out of town for Christmas with DH's side and having people see the belly.

Movement? maybe possibly. If I did I haven't felt it since then.

Symptoms? stuffy nose and minor headaches.

Genders? No clue but hopefully we will know next week.

What I miss? nothing

What I'm looking forward to? Finding out the sex

Weekly Wisdom: The belly comes out of nowhere.

Milestone:Being in the 2nd trimester!

Emotions: Excited. Can't wait to find out the sex and start feeling them.

I don't have a picture yet...I'm slacking.

Movement??

I think I might have felt the babies move this weekend. Friday evening after dinner I felt this movement just below my belly button on the right side. It felt like being in water and someone waving the water by our skin but not touching you. Then Saturday I was helping DH's mom cook and I was leaned up against the counter and felt something similar but different right in front below my belly button.

I have read that women say it feels like gas but this felt nothing like gas. Does this sound like the babies or no? I'm not gonna be sad at all if it wasn't them I'm just wondering if it was. So honest opinion please.

FYI- I haven't felt anything since then.

The start of the Nursery....

Please over look the lack of decorations in the room. We bought our house a little over 4 years ago and our two extra bedrooms were neglected because I didn't wanna decorate and buy for a room I knew would soon be a nursery. Fast froward to present time and I finally get to decorate both rooms. The front room where all this furniture is going and now this one that will be the nursery.

DH had to fix a few spots in the wall that need some mud and new texture. Only thing is the can of texture decided it shoot at full blast on got everywhere. All down the wall where it wasn't needed and my floor. Luckily once dry it came off the floor pretty easily.

We have decided to paint the nursery a mocha color. I have never liked baby colors, light blues, yellow, pinks or greens for the walls. I figured with a color like this any color we go with will match. Pink, blue, purple, green, etc. Then we wont have to re paint in a few years once the babies are out of the baby stage. Hopefully we (DH) can paint this month some time because I really wanna go order furniture as soon as we find out the sex!!! I'm honestly surprised I haven't bought anything yet.

The closet where the filing cabinet use to be. I'm not sure why i didn't take a picture of it after we cleaned it out. It is a fairly big walk in closet especially now that its cleaned out.

This shot is of the closet door on the left, the door going into a jack & Jill bathroom (shared between two rooms) and then the door leading into the hall. Luckily they are all clumped together so it doesn't take up a lot of wall space.

I will keep you updated on any new progress. More pictures after we paint.

Confession

We have about two weeks left before we find out the sex. I have this feeling that both are little girls. Completely fine, Honestly!! But I can't help but have this sinking feeling about a little boy. DH and I have had a boy name since before we were married, a little over 7yrs. So when I think about not being able to use this name I get sad. We haven't ruled out more children but we have always talked about only having two. So IF we have no more and these two are little girls it makes me sad to think we will never have "him". I think I just feel like since we have been saying this name for so long he already feels like a part of us. Am I going crazy? Like I said in the beginning, don't take it wrong like I don't want two little girls if that's what we have cause I would be ecstatic! The weird part is I don't feel like I need a boy its just the name.....ok its official I'm crazy!

Whoa Belly

7 Weeks

11 Weeks

15 Weeks

I think its crazy looking back on these. It's crazy to see how big I have gotten.

My little June Bugs @ 15 weeks

How far along? 15 Weeks!!

Baby's size? Babies are now the size of a naval orange!
Continuing the march toward normal proportions, baby's legs now out-measure his arms. And, finally, all four limbs have functional joints. Your fetus is squirming and wiggling like crazy down in the womb, though you probably can't feel the movements just yet.

Weight Gain? Still 3-5 lbs

Maternity Clothes? Maternity pants.

Stretch marks? none, I have been using baby oil gel which keeps my belly moist/tacky all day. I'm hoping this will help the stretch marks. It has helped with the itching.

I lied....

I said I would be hit and miss over my vacation but I was really miss. I did log on a few times with my phone to try and read but that didn't work out as well as I planned.

I need to post my 14 and 15 week update. We cleaned out the room for the nursery. I have pics for all of it and will post through the week so you aren't bombarded with a million post.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year.
