The name game....

So a few post back I told you how our favorite girl name was STOLEN (yes that's how I feel about it) by a couple at church. We stopped going to that church a few months back (has nothing to do with the name stealing) and have recently found a new church. DH and I skipped around for a few months before we finally settled on this one. So to say we "know" people is an under statement. Last night at Bible study we got to talking with the worship leader. His wife is currently pregnant with their second little girl. He was telling us his wife's name and their 1 1/2 yrs olds name....guess what it is. Yep the name we love. Luckily DH piped right in and said oh really that's the name we like and are considering using.

After church DH asked me "now what" I said "we need another church". I was just joking, we aren't really gonna look for a new church. What in the world do we do? Give up on that name? Talk to the couple about it (DH suggestion) or have two of the same in one very small church? My dad said who cares use it, y'all love so it shouldn't matter. I feel the same way. DH said we need to make sure that they don't get upset with us for using it, kinda like we did with the other couple at our last church. Even though that was a completely different situation!

Thoughts?

On a brighter note, the preachers wife came up to me last night and said she wants to throw me a shower with all the ladies at church!!! We have only been going for maybe a month and a half solid. I feel completely blessed to have them take us in and wanna do this for us.

  1. I would use the name anyway. When I was in elementary school, a private Christian school with a class of only 20-25 kids, we had 3 Jordans, 3 Marks, and 2 Julies. All from the same small church community, all born the same year. If you love the name, USE IT! At worst your kid will be known as "Julie V." or "Julie Z." (like in my class) for her younger years, but only when she's around those people.

  3. This happened to us with our boy name and some close fertile mertile friends at church! At first I thought I needed a new name, but honestly, why? In our minds they will always be together, etc...but life changes, people move, and there will almost always be 2 of the same named people in a group anyway! We have 4 Dave's on my hubby's side! I say, if you love it, use it.

  5. I would just go with the names you love...Only way I would ever reconsider a name would be if one of my close friends had a child with that name or someone in the family other than that I wouldnt worry about it:)

  6. I agree with the above comments. Go with the names you love. You probably won't be at the same church for the girls' whole lives, right? And wouldn't you regret not going with your first choice?
