I came over from Lauren's blog - I saw you...Hi! I came over from Lauren's blog - I saw your comment about bfing and wanted to offer you encouragement!

I have successfully breastfed my twins for 10 1/2 months now!!! You CAN do it!!

I didn't have a great delivery and so my milk was delayed big time, but with the help of lactation consultants and some hard work - we finally got it!! I will say it came much harder for me than it did for most women. We overcame low supply, improper latching, slow weight gain, and a few other things too. My twins came home from the hospital on formula, and we were able to wean them off of it completely within a few weeks!! It was HARD work, but honestly soooooo worth it. And a LOT of women don't have as much trouble, I am just trying to say that if you are really wanting to breastfeed, you can overcome almost anything!!! =)

I wold love to offer you any encouragement I can =)Kendrahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13341163555258432231noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-795793761054155145.post-73147619603644985902011-02-10T07:54:09.367-06:002011-02-10T07:54:09.367-06:00Fenugreek and Blessed Thistle are two galactogogue...Fenugreek and Blessed Thistle are two galactogogues that help increase milk supply. You can find them easily at any health store, pretty much. Fenugreek is what they add to fake maple syrup, which is why I smell like maple syrup! lol.

Most women (by far) can produce enough milk as long as they have a proper latch and feed the baby on demand. Supply problems do exist, but they're often due to improper latch, so the breast doesn't drain properly, so you stop making as much milk. They can also be due to scheduling the baby instead of feeding on demand. The best way to keep your supply up is to nurse often, so with two babies you'll be nursing pretty much around the clock until they get a bit older and faster.

Also, nurse AS SOON AS POSSIBLE after the birth. Studies have shown that if a baby doesn't nurse within 2 hours after birth, he starts to lose his instinct for a proper latch.

A GREAT website is http://www.drjacknewman.com/

He has soooo much information on BFing, along with videos on techniques and latch and whatever else. You'll see a lot of boob in those videos, but it's so worth it. This was by far the best website I've ever seen on BFing, and I didn't find it until Noah was 9 months old. I wish I had seen it before he was born, even though we didn't have any real problems. If more women were aware of this site there would be fewer problems breastfeeding.Laurenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15379005476557830314noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-795793761054155145.post-77972075351529906012011-02-08T07:06:15.063-06:002011-02-08T07:06:15.063-06:00Your belly is so cute and now that your 20wks be p...Your belly is so cute and now that your 20wks be prepared for some huge growth spurts to come:)

Cant wait to hear these sweet little girlies names!!!Nick and Kristihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14537407923580887602noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-795793761054155145.post-9881854011103812482011-02-07T13:34:16.677-06:002011-02-07T13:34:16.677-06:00I'm surprised I have only gained that much too...I'm surprised I have only gained that much too. I got two little ones on my side (so random!) and then on my chest when my milk came in. :/ Can't wait to hear the names! :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-795793761054155145.post-39109928086360774712011-02-07T10:47:23.082-06:002011-02-07T10:47:23.082-06:00A) your belly is adorable! You'll be glad to have them later.

B) I can't believe you have only gained 10-12 lbs and you're 20 weeks pregnant with twins. That's crazy!

C) You will probably get stretch marks, especially since you're having twins. I didn't get mine until I was like 37 weeks pregnant, and I was pretty big early on. They didn't even show up much until after I gave birth. They're just under my belly button though, so not too bad. Still. They're there.Laurenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15379005476557830314noreply@blogger.com
